AZtecLive and Ultim Max: Combining Technologies to Revolutionize EDS Analysis

The AZtecLive transforms the way users carry out sample analysis by adding real-time chemical imaging to the Scanning Electron Microscope —  this new capability integrates a live electron image with live X-ray maps and live spectra to provide users with a new and intuitive way of interacting with their samples.

AZtecLive is driven by Ultim Max, the state-of-the-art silicon drift detectors (SDD) integrating the largest sensor sizes with Extreme electronics to provide unprecedented sensitivity and speed.

  • Real-time chemical imaging
  • Up to 170 mm2 sensor area
  • Record each step of the analysis with Live Trace
  • EDS mapping at >1,000,000 cps
  • Quantitative analysis at 400,000 cps

Features

Live Mapping

For the first time, video rate electron and chemical imaging allows real-time navigation by chemistry.

Live Trace

Users can automatically record where they have been and what elements have been identified so that they never lose a feature of interest. Users can view both the concentration and position of elements to rapidly detect “hot spots.”

Ultim Max Speed

Thanks to the combination of Extreme electronics with the X4 pulse processor, Ultim Max maps samples at count rates of 1,500,000 cps and exactly measures the composition at 400,000 cps.

Ultim Max Sensitivity

Use the Ultim Max sensor on areas of around 170 mm2 to deliver unmatched count rate under the most challenging analytical conditions.

Change the Way You Interact With Your Sample

AZtecLive allows the fast and detailed analysis of a sample with real-time chemical feedback through the AZtecLive interface. Users do not need to shift back and forth between the EDS software and the microscope. They can simply navigate around their samples while visualizing Live TV rate electron image and X-Ray maps until they detect a feature of interest and then stop. AZtecLive will automatically change to integration mode to obtain high-quality image and X-ray maps, thus enabling users to view the detail in their samples.

Collect Up To 17x the Data in the Same Time

Ultim Max’s large SDD sensors allow the collection of up to 17x more data in the same time without compromising the accuracy. Whether users have better statistics in each data point, want to map bigger areas, collect data relatively faster, or study the tiniest nano-structures, Ultim Max provides the ultimate solution for X-ray analysis in the SEM.
