Bonding Fasteners

RSS
Bonding fasteners create a watertight and airtight seal in between two or more objects. Some fasteners make an adhesive bond meant to be supported by mechanical fasteners. Other fasteners are used to separate one surface from another and protect against electrolysis, resonance or sound.

While glues generally cure as a fairly brittle solid, bonding fasteners create a tough, flexible, rubbery seal, sticking to surfaces to keep water or air from breaking through. Because these fasteners are flexible, they can tolerate some action of the surfaces to which they are fused without sacrificing adhesion.

Curing time can span hours to weeks and may be based on the presence of moisture.
