Metal Seal Shelf Life and Storage Overview

A common question we receive is, “What is the shelf life of a Technetics metal seal?”

Most of our metal seals stored flat in their original packaging can have an infinite shelf life.

However, if the seal is comprised of certain metals — such as iron, tin, copper, silver, and gold — it may tarnish or corrode naturally with time. For these materials, users should ensure they’re always stored in a dry environment and periodically check the product. Should minor tarnish or corrosion occur, we can either polish them for you or provide instructions on how to do it on your own. In addition to these metals, PTFE-coated seals must also be stored in cool, dry environments to avoid any unwanted deterioration of quality.

If you’re planning to store the seals for extended periods of time, let us know so we can provide a packaging solution best suited for your needs.
