UK ceramic materials technology company Surface Transforms plc is to showcase its ceramic brakes at the Essen Motor Show (November 26 to December 5, 2004) in collaboration with its German partner, Metek. Held in Messe Essen in Germany, the 37th Essen Motor Show is the biggest motor show of the year, attracting over 400,000 visitors.
Surface Transforms has chosen Essen as the launch venue for its new ‘SystemST’ brand. It will be offering sets of discs and pads manufactured from the Company’s unique carbon ceramics to owners of high-performance prestige cars including BMWs, Jaguars, Mercedes and Audis. Brake sets (discs, pads and callipers) will retail from €10,000 per car, rising to €20,000 depending on the make and model of vehicle. The Company estimates the market for replacement brakes to be worth around €3.5bn a year.
SystemST has been developed for use by high-performance car owners who want to enjoy some of the best braking performance in the world. The SystemST brakes perform to the highest levels, having been developed for over seven years in Formula One, the Indy Racing League and on aircraft. The rotors are ultra light weight (some 70% lighter than cast iron) and have incredible stopping power. The Company believes they offer the best performance, integrity and wear advantages on the market.
Other benefits of the SystemST brakes:
- Improved car handling
- Consistent braking performance
- Increased brake lifetime
- High integrity
- Competitively priced
Managing Director of Surface Transforms, Julio Faria, commented:
“The Essen Motor Show is the biggest event in the motoring calendar and a perfect forum to launch our ‘SystemST’ ceramic brake sets. We are very confident that ‘SystemST’ will appeal strongly to a large market of prestige performance car owners who are eager to enjoy the very latest in performance braking technology.”
