GreenMan Technologies to Manufacture Roof Shingles from Recycled Tyres

GreenMan Technologies have signed an agreement to become the sole producer of FlexShake™ roofing shingles. FlexShake was developed and patented by US Century of the USA.

They are hail proof shingles stamped from the tread of scrap passenger and light truck tyres. During the manufacturing process they are coated and granulated to give them a slate-like appearance. The rubber based shingles offer the resilience of a tyre and improved insulation properties compared to asphalt roofing.

The shingles were designed with heavy weather areas in mind, areas that are estimated to cost insurance companies upward of $1.6 billion.

GreenMan is currently installing the first production line for FlexShake into a newly acquired plant in California. They anticipate that this will be followed by multiple production lines across the country.
