Copper-zirconium (CuZr) Master Alloy - Properties and Applications

KBM Affilips supplies a complete range of alloys, including the copper-zirconium (CuZr) alloy, for use in the global copper industry.

One such product offered by KBM Affilips is copper-zirconium (CuZr) alloy that dissolves better than the corresponding pure metal or metals.

CuZr Master Alloys

The table below lists the different types of CuZr master alloys supplied by KBM Affilips:

Alloy Form Composition
CuZr10 Waffle ingot 10% Zr balance Cu
CuZr33 Irregularly shaped pieces 33% Zr balance Cu
CuZr50 Irregularly shaped pieces 50% Zr balance Cu

The copper-zirconium 10% master alloy is utilized in the production of precipitation hardening copper alloys which are used for instance in electrical engineering applications.

When added to aluminium bronzes, zirconium improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength.

Applications of CuZr Master Alloys

  • CuZr serves as a grain refiner alloy in brass
  • CuZr serves as a precipitation hardening of alloyed copper
