Can you tell me about Bay Plastics Machinery and why you are at NPE 2018.

We are a third-generation company that focuses primarily on strand pelletizing equipment.  Bay Plastics was founded in 1997, but has roots dating back to the early sixties when my father and I developed a pelletizer for Dow Chemical.  The NPE show has always given us an opportunity to display what we have to offer and the quality that separates us from our competition, and this year’s show is no exception.

Which machinery are you highlighting this week?

This is an exciting show for BPM.  We are introducing four new products, with one new patent pending.  Recently we expanded our global presence to include representation throughout Europe, and we quickly realized that we had to modify a product line to meet the demands of this new market.  Without jeopardizing the quality and durability expected from Bay, we are showing our new cost effective “ZE” series 100 & 200mm strand pelletizers.  We are also expanding our offering of the EVAK series line of vacuum strand dryers with the introduction of the EVAK06.  The EVAK vacuum dryers were developed at the request of our customers looking a dryer that will keep water off the floor while operating under a noise level of 85 dba.  We have on display this week the other two new introductions - the AXP 12M micro-pelletizer, and the patent pending pellet evacuation system.  The AXP 12M, is a strand pelletizer that has been specifically developed for producing some of the most challenging micro-pellets.  Once again our customer base asked us to offer something that addresses a specific need and provide a pelletizer that will allow them to produce a product as small as .006’ (0.15mm).  That brings us to our new patent pending pellet evacuation system.  In the process of looking at all the issues created in producing micro-pellets the ever-present issue of pellet carry-over had never been addressed.  Because this inherent issue of strand pelletizing becomes significantly worse the smaller you go, we felt the issue had to be addressed.  The basic concept behind the technology is to vacuum the pellet from the cutting chamber directly below from where it is being cut.  We are very excited that this common-sense approach to solving pellet carry-over will help solve the issue for all products not just micro.

What sets you aside from any competitors?

Our family roots to this segment in the plastics industry.  Bay Plastics has stayed focused on producing equipment specifically designed for strand pelletizing for over 50 years.  Over the years we have not forgot that support our customers with service after the sale is a key to success.  We are a custom manufacturer of strand pelletizers and strand pelletizing support equipment and listening to our customers is the key to our success.
