Please tell us a bit about the company and why you're at ACHEMA this week.
Dürr was founded in 1895. We grew from a small shop into a world leading company for different application fields.
We're here today at ACHEMA with our Division of Clean Technology Systems. We are concentrating on air pollution control systems, especially for the chemical and pharmaceutical markets.
What products are you promoting?
We are promoting everything to do with air pollution control.
Air pollution control includes everything from thermal oxidizing to adsorption, absorption, and catalytics. We're providing the whole product range for the special needs of different applications, like the glass industry, the chemical industry and the automotive industry. All of these have different needs that we will cater to.
It's a product range of roughly five to six core products that then diversify out from that.
What makes you makes you unique in the market?
We are global, reliable and we are digital.
Globally, we have around 15,000 people working for us. We have 92 subsidiaries in 31 countries all over the world. We have a variety of colleagues here with us, to serve the customers as they need it. We can talk to them in their native tongue to serve the purpose. That's what we are, that's what makes us unique.
We have more than 4,000 systems in the field currently operating. We started in the automotive industry, that's what the whole Durr Group was famous for, but we've developed out of this into other applications.
We as the Dürr Group, we see ourselves as the leaders in digital transformation. What you normally miss as an engineering or planned technology company is the software engineering and programming. What other businesses are missing out is the engineering part.
Through the joint venture ADAMOS (ADAptive Manufacturing Open Solutions), DMG MORI, Dürr, Software AG and ZEISS as well as ASM PT are establishing a strategic alliance for the future topics of Industrie 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). We've formed a unique joint venture to give the right answers to the customer for their digital transformation.
What are you hoping to get out of ACHEMA this week?
Firstly, it's brilliant having customers come here, on a global basis. Secondly, we also have suppliers that come here, bring new perspectives.
Of course, one of the crucial things for us is also that there's a lot of students out there that need jobs and internships, or need some technology for their final thesis - it's the future.
