Preventing Contamination in Concrete with Hydrogel

Tradeshow Talks with Markham

In this interview, AZoM talks to Markham about their unique Hydrogel that prevents contaminant and cracks being created within concrete.

Could you tell me a bit about the company, and why you're here today?

Our product turns the moisture within the concrete into a hydro gel. All the problems that come along with concrete, wherever that concrete is, be it in a car park, a basement, an apartment, a marine wharf, relate to that it has moisture within it.

Our solution will turn that moisture into a hydro gel, thereby stopping all the problems that come along with the concrete, such as contaminants  and cracks that are created within the concrete, and problems that are created by all the carbonation and contaminants that are within those cracks.

Our products locks the moisture in the concrete, into the hydro gel. It penetrates deep into the concrete and is hydrophilic to lock the moisture. It can go into both new and existing concrete by spraying on top of  the concrete. We guarantee that when the moisture is locked in, the contaminants either disappear or stay at continued levels. So, if it's chloride, we guarantee that for 25 years it will stay at that continued level.

What are the applications will see the benefit of your product?

It can be used by the contractors building exposed floors in warehouses and retail units.  It can also be used in schools, hospitals and in rest homes, where there is concrete under the floor.

By putting the Hydrogel down our product down contaminant’s that are often found  would be held within the floor and not the concrete, so all they would need to do is take the floor away and put the floor back down.

Is there anything else like your product on the market?

Our product is totally unique on the market. There are other products that claim to do the same job, but they are harder to install, don't come with the guarantees that we offer, and cost more. Our product is simple and will last for longer.
