This article describes how customers can get online Performance Certificates for Viatran’s instruments.
The Issue
One of Viatran’s customers who make Hydrostatic Pressure Testing Equipment had shipped a number of Viatran pressure transmitters to an offshore facility without appending the Performance Certifications given for those instruments.
Norms
The American Petroleum Institute as a Standards body has stipulated stringent specifications to calibrate sensors under Section 7.2.2.3 of the API 6A standard.
This section specifies that “Calibration intervals shall be a maximum of 3 months until recorded calibration history can be established by the manufacturer and new longer intervals (3 months maximum increment) established.”
In the absence of the Performance Certificates, the end-user was not able to set up the transmitters for use.
Solution
As it was the weekend, installation of the units was crucial. That is when Viatran’s customer recalled that there was a login that enabled them to access the stored Performance Certificates from Viatran through its website by just inputting the Serial Number of the instrument.
This feature can be more easily used now since it does not require a login. Customers can just access the V-Commerce tab on Viatran’s website (www.viatran.com) and select their Performance Certificates.

Thus, Viatran’s customer forwarded the certificates to the end-user and they could install the units instantly. Customers can call Viatran if they have any clarifications about this useful resource.
