A few years ago, ENOD ventured into the field of digital radiography, replacing traditional film radiography, and now offers state-of-the-art technologies to aid in the anticipated age of digitalization.
Ignacio Fraile, current managing director of ENOD, states, “We have always believed in new technologies and have always tried to be a pioneer in Argentina, bringing the latest products to the market. The goal is to deliver the best results and solutions to our customers”.
In recent years, ENOD has been collaborating on a huge project with one of its Oil & Gas customers. This project consists of checking the corrosion of pipes under insulation at 12 different sites using Isotopes. To aid in this endeavor, the company has been deploying its most valuable resource, the HD-CR 35 NDT CR scanner.
“Image quality is the biggest advantage of the HD-CR 35 NDT compared to any other CR scanner we tried. We scanned imaging plates at 50µm focal spot size, which produced very nice images with a perfect signal-to-noise ratio. It’s usually pretty difficult to get this using Iridium”, Inspector at INOD Kevin Rodriguez says. “Moreover, we broke records on this project using Computed Radiography. We have never completed such a large project so quickly”.
Due to the simple operation of the D-Tect X software, along with a simplified acquisition and workflow process, 460 radiographs were completed in fewer than twenty days. This includes reporting and evaluation.
“We have savings in exposure time, but that’s not the biggest time saving we made. The real time-savings we made were in the evaluation process. Indeed, since we scanned every imaging plate (IP) on site, we took advantage of this to review images and evaluate them immediately. It’s 1000 times better to have a direct image … you get a direct response and avoid re-shot”.
Digital images are helpful in reporting. All of the radiographs are exported in JPEG format and are easily inserted into the reports. This is good for customers as they receive the real images, and the inspectors can archive the raw images.
All in all, ENOD is pleased with the transition to digital, particularly with the HD-CR 35 NDT and D-Tect X. ENOD now encourages its customers to buy digital technology because everyone can see the benefits.
