Aluminium Alloy Products for the Casthouse Industry

Hydro supplies the main alloy types within the Foundry Alloy segment to the market. The alloys are normally tailor-made to customer specifications.

Dimensions and Weight of Aluminium Ingots

Foundry Alloys are produced as continuous cast or mold cast ingots, which are then stacked and strapped into bundles of various sizes. Depending on the production line, ingots can vary from 620 to 750 mm in length, 6,5 to 13 kg in weight and from 460 to 1.200 kg in bundle weight. Special variants can be produced on request.

Quality systems of Aluminium Alloys

The production and sales of Foundry Alloys from our main sources are certified according to the ISO/TS 16949 automotive standard which ensures high and consistent quality in our products and services. Our ISO 14001 certificate confirms environmental focus in the production of Foundry Alloys.

Metal Quality of Aluminium Alloys

High and consistent metal quality is secured by starting with superior raw material sources and by efficient cleaning of the melt during production.

Effective removal of impurities like hydrogen and inclusions prior to the casting of Foundry Alloys ingots is achieved by using Hydro’s proprietary technology for in-line degassing of the Al-melt.
