Video Measuring System Allows Rapid Quality Control Checks for Automotive Manufacturers

DENSO Otomotiv Parcalari San.A.S. (DNTR), will be using the newly-launched, bench-top system to make rapid checks on the quality of bought-in metal and plastic components destined for use within its climate control systems. Specifically designed for 3D work pieces, the iNEXIV VMA 2520 will take the place of manual callipers and greatly simplify the company’s rigorous quality control checks.

Stitching Features of the Nikon iNEXIV

In addition to measuring components, DNTR will also use the stitching feature on the iNEXIV’s AutoMeasure software to capture images of parts that do not comply with its strict target tolerances. According to Ms Secil Ayvaz EKSI, Quality Assurance Executive at DNTR , “Having reliable, accurate measurements and corresponding images will make it much easier for us to discuss failures with our suppliers. This should, in turn, help them work towards 100% product approval.”

Nikon’s Customer Support

Although the new video measuring system will not be installed until August, Ms EKSI is already impressed by Nikon Instruments’ responsiveness and support. “Compared to its competitors, Nikon has displayed a far greater commitment to ensuring that our exact needs are met. We also feel confident that our QC technicians will be able to learn how to use the Nikon iNEXIV in a very short space of time. DNTR currently uses manual tools and is looking forward to being able to make far more consistent measurements on an automated basis.”

Launch of the Nikon iNEXIV

Launched at the start of 2007, the iNEXIV VMA 2520 requires minimal bench space, yet combines a 250 x 200mm stage and a 200mm Z-axis stroke on a highly stable platform. Together with a working distance of 73.5mm, these dimensions make it ideal for rapid QC checks and demanding R&D work on mechanical, pressed metal and plastic moulded components.
