Benefits of the Thermal Decomposition Technique for Mercury Analysis

The thermal decomposition technique employed by the DMA-80 Direct Mercury Analyser analyses samples directly, eliminating digestion, chemical pre-treatment and waste disposal. The DMA-80 fully complies with EPA 7473 (Env, food etc.) and ASTM D6722 (coal, coal combustion residues).

Combustion bi-products are carried away and further decomposed in a hot catalyst bed. Mercury vapours are trapped on a gold amalgamator and subsequently desorbed for quantitation.

Advantages of the Autosampler

An autosampler with 40 positions sample tray enables unattended processing. To avoid the “memory effect” experienced by other systems Milestone has developed special high purity quartz boats, which assure improved reproducibility and a longer lifetime.

Detection Limits of the DMA-80 Direct Mercury Analyser

The DMA-80 Direct Mercury Analyser has a detection limit of 0.005 ng Hg and a working range of up to 1,000 ng Hg.
