Bonding Ceramic Substrates with Master Bond EP30

Master Bond EP30 is a two component epoxy adhesive for high performance bonding applications. It has outstanding physical strength properties even when cured at ambient temperatures. EP30 features very low viscosity along with outstanding chemical resistance, dimensional stability, hardness, and superb optical clarity.

Bonds are high strength and rigid. It retains its superb electrical insulation properties even upon prolonged exposure to moisture. EP30 is widely used for the potting and encapsulation of electronic components as well as in the bonding of optical elements.

Master Bond EP30 has exceptionally low shrinkage upon cure – less than .003 in/in. It has a shear strength of >3,000 psi and a tensile strength of >9,500 psi. EP30 has a working life for a 100 gram batch of 25-35 minutes. Cure speed can be accelerated by the use of heat. It is available for use in ½ pint, pint, quart, gallon and 5 gallon kits. Special packaging options include bubble packs, gun kits and premixed and frozen syringes. EP30 has a 4 to1 mix ratio by weight.

Bonding Ceramic to Similar and Dissimilar Substrates

One point to consider when bonding ceramic to dissimilar substrates is their coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). It is important to choose an adhesive that is close to the CTEs of the materials being bonded. If you have a clear mismatch you should choose either a more flexibilized or more toughened system to compensate.

Master Bond offers an extensive variety of one and two part adhesive systems specifically designed for the bonding of ceramic to similar and dissimilar substrates. These products offer outstanding performance properties and durable bond strength.

Cutting Edge Formulations

The Master Bond product line consists of advanced epoxies, silicones, polyurethanes, polysulfides, UV/LED cures and other specialty systems. Each compound is designed to meet specific application requirements. Master Bond environmentally friendly systems are available in convenient packaging from small to large sizes.
