Introduction

UNS C18200 chromium copper alloys are primary alloys, which are heat treated and cold worked to provide electrical conductivity of 80% IACS and hardness. They are used in applications that require deformation resistance at high temperatures.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment

Machinability

The machinability rating of C18200 copper alloys is 20.

Welding

Welding methods such as soldering, brazing, seam welding and butt welding are preferred for C18200 copper alloys. Oxyacetylene welding, gas shielded arc welding, coated metal arc welding and spot welding are not preferred for this type of alloys.

Forging

C18200 copper alloys are forged at temperatures ranging from 760 to 871°C (1400 to 1600°F). The hot forgeability rating of these alloys is 80.

Hot Working

C18200 copper alloys have good hot working property.

Cold Working

C18200 copper alloys have excellent cold working property.
