Master Bond UV10Med is a low viscosity, single component UV curable compound that features high physical strength properties. Optically clear, this product readily cures in 20-30 seconds upon exposure to UV light in the 320-365 nm range. Rate of cure depends on the compound’s distance from the light source, the thickness of the section and the intensity of the light source. UV10Med is not oxygen inhibited.
Recently, I recommended this product for a medical application where an optical grade, low viscosity, USP class VI rated sealant with gamma radiation sterilization resistance was required. In the prototype phase, the customer evaluated a two component, high viscosity system with a long cure time. Since the customer had millions of parts to assemble, UV10MED was a great fit. It eliminated the need for mixing, and its fast cure property was extremely useful in their application.

Meeting USP Class VI requirements
This system fully meets USP Class VI requirements. It has high bond strength to treated metals, glass and most plastics. Adhesion to polycarbonates and acrylics is excellent. Shore D hardness is > 65. UV10Med is resistant to gamma radiation, ETO and chemical sterilants. Electrical insulation properties are outstanding. Volume resistivity is 1014 ohm cm and its dielectric constant is 3.5 at 60 Hz. It has a refractive index of 1.55.
Master Bond UV10Med has a service operating temperature range of -60°F to +250°F. Glass transition temperature for this formulation is 65-70°C. It also offers superior dimensional stability and low shrinkage upon cure. This rapid curing compound is ideal for high production applications.
