PLECO knife cleaning tools are made of a PVA material from Ted Pella that has been intentionally designed to aid in the cleaning of debris from knives and blades.
It functions very well on scalpel blades, sapphire knives, Vibratome blades, diamond scribers, microtome blades, and mini-tools. The PVA material wicks liquids instantly for quick and sure cleaning.
Available in two versions:
- The Wedge Tip on a Plastic Holder (#122-11), when dipped in a liquid, the material expands and becomes pliable. Image a) shows the plastic when it is dry or unused; image b) shows when the plastic has expanded after dampening with water. This version is to clean vibratory knives and sapphire. A wiping-cleaning action can be employed on the knife edge. The wedge tip can be utilized multiple times, and the shape or size ensure safe use.

- The Sponge Block (#122-20) is used in the same manner as the wedge on larger knives and microtome blades. The sponge-type material stays rigid when using alcohol as a cleaning fluid and helps to remove debris from the knife edges.
