Identification of Destabilization Mechanisms - Turbiscan LAB

Turbiscan LAB enables fast, reliable, and sensitive identification of various destabilization processes, including creaming, sedimentation, coalescence, and flocculation. A temperature-controlled measurement cell allows either a stability monitoring at specific storage temperatures or the acceleration of the destabilization process.

Turbiscan LAB may be applied in research and development as well as in quality checking labs in order to routinely develop and control raw materials and final products. The instrument is able to detect the stability evolution early on, up to 200 times faster that visual testing. In addition, Turbiscan LAB is also able to quantify global formula alterations using the TSI scale.

Highlights of the Turbiscan LAB

Wide Concentration Range

Turbiscan LAB could analyze sample stability with minimal risk for dilution or mechanical stress. Up to 95% of concentrations may be analyzed in their native state. This provides a unique insight on particle migration and size variation.

Accelerated Aging Conditions

With a temperature control of up to 60 °C, the device offers the possibility of speeding up measurement time and observing destabilization in real usage and storage conditions. Turbiscan LAB functions up to 200 times faster than traditional visual tests.

Measurement of Stability and Size

  • Quantitative monitoring of dispersion stability
  • Shelf life and long-term stability analysis
  • Migration velocity
  • Aggregation and agglomeration kinetics
  • Mean diameter
  • Dispersibility ratio
  • Volume fraction

Turbiscan Stability Index (TSI)

The Turbiscan Stability Index (TSI) scale provides a single value to rapidly assess and independently rank formulation stability on the current setup. This index has made it possible to evaluate sample stability with just one number.

Key Benefits

TURBISCAN is a global reference technology in analyzing physical stability. Through hasse-free sample preparation, intuitive software, and reliable measurements, Turbiscan LAB has made itself an irreplaceable tool for any formulator.

Turbiscan LAB is able to measure a single sample at time; however, it may be upgraded to an automated aging stating with a reliable robot arm and three storage racks that have independent temperature regulations (RT+5 °C to 60 °C). In this configuration, a maximum of 54 samples may be analyzed.

Turbiscan LAB may be used with disposable glass cells between 4 to 20 mL. The complete kit is also available for foams and viscous product analysis.
