Biomolecule and/or Microwave-Assisted Solvothermal Syntheses of Nanomaterials

In this paper, some nanomaterials with controlled size and shape are successfully synthesized under microwave-assisted solvothermal or biomolecule-assisted hydrothermal method. These results show that nanomaterials with adjustable size and shape can be successfully synthesized.

Photorefractive Organic Polymer System Functionalized with a Nonlinear Optical Chromophore Boronate Derivative

PR composites functionalized with a boron derivative nonlinear chromophore were fabricated. The diffraction efficiency, optical gain coefficient, phase shift, and effect on the chromophore orientation at room temperature were examined as a function of PVK:ECZ ratio of PR composites.

The Relationship between Magnesium and Cigars

The color of a cigars’ ash is determined by the magnesium content of the tobacco. The more white the ash, the more magnesium it contained and conversely, the darker the ash, the lower the magnesium content. Sources of magnesium and affect on cigar taste are discussed.
