Synthesis of Yttrium Aluminum Garnet by Modifying the Citrate Precursor Method

YAG was synthesised using a spray drying based novel processing route. This novel route decreased considerably the processing times. Powders produced consisted of agglomerates of micron-size particles. The method maintained a high degree of component mixing, with good fluidity and homogeniety.

Polarization Holographic Device Using Photoreactive Polymer Liquid Crystals

Research has been done into using organic materials in optical devices. Stable and functional polarization holographic devices using photocrosslinkable polymer liquid crystals have been demonstrated anticipating the unique properties of the material and phase grating being used in optical devices.

Europium Complexes Having an Aminophenanthroline Ligand as Red Dopants in Electroluminescent Devices

Two substituted phenanthrolines were successfully prepared and europium complexes based on these ligands were synthesized. Several electroluminescent devices using these two europium complexes as dopant emitters were fabricated. Results show that some devices emitted saturated red light.

Tribological Properties of Magnesium Matrix Composite Alloys Dispersed with Mg2Si Particles

While magnesium alloys have excellent strength to weight characteristics, they have poor wear resistance when emplyed in friction applications. Reinforcing with Mg₂Si dispersoids was found to be effective in improving wear resistance and lowering the coefficient of friction.
