Titanium to Save Venice Landmark

saltwater. The structure has also come under attack from increasing floods due
to rising sea levels. This could lead to cracks and cause the bell tower to
tilt. Now titanium is to be used to repair and save this major attraction. ThyssenKrupp
Titanium in Terni has received a contract to supply twelve tons of the material
to provide long-term protection for the foundation.

BASF to Increase Production Capacity for Highly Reactive Polyisobutene

is increasing its production of low molecular weight, highly reactive polyisobutene
(HR PIB). Between now and 2010 the company will increase its annual capacity
by 25,000 metric tons. The polymer, marketed worldwide under the Glissopal®
trademark, is an intermediate product which is used to manufacture additives
for fuels and lubricants.
