PolyOne Corporation is introducing a new line of improved PVC alloys, Geon(TM) HTX Ultra, which deliver exceptional high-heat performance and enhanced weathering for dark-colored profiles in a wide range of climates.
Consistent with PolyOne's commitment to develop innovative, value-added polymer solutions, this enhanced technology enables building materials manufacturers to offer a wider range of colors for window profiles, fence, deck and rail components, siding, and other building and construction applications. Geon HTX Ultra alloys are applicable for use as a solid profile, a cap layer or for substrate/cap combinations.
"This innovative new technology is a prime example of how PolyOne is creating unique value for customers by delivering specialized, market-leading polymer solutions," said Robert M. Rosenau, senior vice president and general manager, Vinyl Business. "PolyOne's strategy focuses on our customers so we can understand and anticipate their needs better than anyone else and HTX Ultra does just that."
"Profiles made with Geon HTX Ultra alloys can withstand temperatures up to 195 degrees F without warping or sagging," said Dr. Sang H. Lee, director of technology for Vinyl Compounds at PolyOne. As a result, profile manufacturers will be able to offer more choices of dark-color building materials, which are becoming more popular for new construction and renovation."
Geon HTX Ultra products provide superior weatherability, better flow, and have a lower specific gravity, which leads to lower part weight compared with conventional weatherable, rigid PVC compounds. These alloys are further noted for their improved impact performance when compared with conventional high- heat PVC and CPVC compounds, as well as being processing-friendly.
