China is about to commence work on a project that will give them the world’s biggest silicon carbide base, with an annual production capacity of 130,000 tonnes.
The project funded by Heqiao Silicon Co will be based in the province of Gansu. The project will be the second phase and add a further 80,000 tonnes capacity to the fist phase which was completed in 1989 and produces 50,000 tonnes.
The existing plant is the third biggest silicon carbide producer in the world.
