Danish Tax on Rigid PVC Materials is Abolished

The Danish Parliament has finally decided to abolish the tax on rigid PVC products after a vote was taken on the bill on the 26th of February.

Of the 60 MP’s present, 48 voted in favour of the bill to overturn the ruling made in 2000 that imposed a tax on rigid PVC products and products containing pthalates. Some products affected by the tax included guttering and roofing.

A major contributing factor to the positive decision is the establishment of a PVC recycling programme. A similar programme is being worked on for flexible PVC materials, in the hope that the tax on flexible PVC materials can also be abolished.

The passing of the bill will mean a promotion of the marketing of rigid PVC products.
