NKK Opens PET Bottle Recycling Facility

NKK Steels’ subsidiary NK Kankyo Corp has recently opened its PET bottle recycling facility in Kawasaki, Japan.. The plant was installed at a cost of approximately 140,000,000 Yen.

The plant has a capacity of producing 7,000-8,000mt per annum of PET flakes from 10,000mt of feedstock. This is the equivalent of being able to process approximately 200,000,000 PET bottles of various sizes.

NK Kankyo Corp only plans to run the plant at 40% capacity in the short term with production increases in the future. The output of the plant will supply manufacturers of polyester fibres and PET sheets.
