Dow Invest $5 Million to Expand Silicone Manufacturing Capabilities in Indiana

Dow Corning Corp. announced today it will invest approximately $5 million to expand its manufacturing operations in Kendallville, Ind. (USA).

The investment, which is expected to create more than 20 jobs by 2010, will be used to build and equip a 5,000 square-foot addition to the site.

“Kendallville has been a wonderful home for this Dow Corning facility for more than 20 years,” said Bob Hansen, vice president and general manager of Core Products at Dow Corning. “We’re thankful to the people of the city of Kendallville, the state of Indiana, and to our dedicated employees who have made it possible for us to expand our operations here.”

The Kendallville facility, which currently employs more than 100 employees, serves as the company’s principle compounding unit that supplies thermoset products to the North American market. The company plans to begin hiring additional machine operators, maintenance technicians and quality assurance specialists in 2008.

“More and more companies are recognizing that Indiana is a great place to do business, and we’re glad Dow Corning selected Indiana for this expansion,” said Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels
