Coperion to Show Off New and Improved Plastics Compounder at Chinaplas

A more powerful drive and a programmable controller with touchscreen user interface are the most important innovations featured by the STS advanced, the now improved version of the Standard-Twin-Screw(STS)-Compounder from Coperion Keya Machinery Co., Ltd., Nanjing/China. Among the further detailed improvements are the increased rigidity of the machine frame and the completely new, ergonomically improved design of the machine as a whole. Coperion will be presenting this improved compounder, which is further distinguished by its unique price-performance ratio, for the first time at Chinaplas (Shanghai from 17th to 20th April 2008).

Further developments and improvements make for increased customer benefits

The increased drive output enables an increase in screw speed to up to 800 r.p.m., which in turn gives an increase in output of up to 30% while at the same time reducing production costs. Besides the existing BasicMaster control, Coperion also offers the STS advanced with the new TouchMaster machine control system, which is built up from components from the renowned and internationally active control system specialists B+R. The menu-guided touchscreen user interface is largely self-explanatory. It permits the easy setting of production parameters and, where required, their adaptation to any changes in the raw materials. Optimized production parameters – formulation components and machine settings – can be stored in the control system and retrieved at the push of a button. Clearly arranged help functions simplify on-the spot troubleshooting. With these additional functions, TouchMaster contributes decisively to greater operator comfort and maximum reliability in production. A further innovation featured by the STS advanced comprises two new families of wear-resistant materials: wear protection BASIC meets the market's high demands for cost-efficient wear-resistant materials, while wear protection PRO features even better wear-resistance and, in addition, anti-corrosive properties. The new design combines even greater operator safety with optimum accessibility for servicing and maintenance work. All versions of the STC compounder carry the CE safety mark. In cooperation with European manufacturers that operate high-quality production facilities in China, Coperion Keya can, if required, offer the complete compounding system from start to finish, from material feed and metering through to pelletizing – all from one and the same supplier.

The STS compounders unite the low-cost high-tech production facilities of Coperion Keya, which has been a member company of the Coperion Group since 2004, with the outstanding processing and engineering know-how of Coperion Werner & Pfleiderer. The result is a compact, high-performance twin-screw compounding system suitable for all standard applications and distinguished by an extremely attractive cost-performance ratio. Since the introduction of the STS at K 2004, Coperion has sold well over 100 machines. The worldwide acceptance of the STS is further underscored by the fact that customers are already placing orders for further machines of the same type. Typical markets – besides Asia – have turned out to be South America, Eastern Europe and the Near East. The areas of application range from the filling and reinforcing of engineering and standard plastics to the production of pigment and additive masterbatches and the recycling of plastics.
