HP Beef Up Notebooks with Magnesium

Computer giant Hewlett Packard have introduced the nr3600 and tr3000, new rugged laptop and tablet PC’s.

These two new machines benefit from magnesium chassis, as opposed to plastic chassis used in most notebooks. Light weight magnesium has been used to produce a more durable machine, more suited to applications requiring constant use in remote locations such as by police, military and utility companies.

The new machines were built to US military standards. This required them to be able to survive being dropped several times from a height of 3 feet onto concrete covered by plywood. In addition to the physical strength afforded by the magnesium chassis, they also offer vibration and shock resistance, a degree of water repellence such that they can endure inclement weather as well as resistance to extremes in temperature.

These new laptop and tablet portable computers will fit into a niche in the portable computer market populated by other rugged notebooks manufactured by the likes of Panasonic and Toshiba.
