Bodycote Now Equipped with Europe's Largest Electron Beam Welding Equipment

Bodycote has installed additional Electron Beam Welding equipment at its heat treatment plant at Skelmersdale, UK. The new equipment gives the Skelmersdale facility the largest sub-contract EBW capability in Europe and, at 3m x 2.4m x 2.4m, can accommodate the largest of components.

Operating under full vacuum and with a gun system rated at 25 K/w, the equipment is ideal for large diameter aerospace applications, particularly the latest generation of very large jet engines.

The machine is capable of achieving up to 100mm penetration in steels.
