Bodycote Metallurgical Coatings Ltd, is pleased to announce accreditation of its Chemical Processing facility at Liverpool, UK, to Nadcap as of January 2004.
The accreditation results in Bodycote Liverpool being the only facility within Europe and Africa to hold Nadcap accreditation for Chemical Processing. This adds to their existing Nadcap accreditation for Non Destructive Testing achieved in April 2003. This accreditation adds to Liverpool’s existing achievements which include ISO 9001:2000, AS9100, ISO 14001 and all major manufacturing and aerospace approvals.
Nadcap (National Aerospace and Defence Contractors Accreditation Program) has been operational in the USA since 1990. Nadcap is an industry-managed approach to conformity assessment of “special processes”, that brings together technical experts from prime contractors, suppliers and representatives from government to work together and establish requirements for approval of suppliers using a standardised approach.
Nadcap’s aerospace approval at Liverpool for chemical processing covers Alocrom, Anodising – Chromic and Sulphuric, Blasting – Vacu-blasting, Cadmium – Bright, Dull and Titanium, Copper Plating, Painting, Passivation of Stainless Steel, Phosphating, Silver Plating, Tin Plating, De-embrittlement and Selective Plating. It also includes NDT – Magnetic and Penetrant Flaw Detection, Etch inspection, Hardness testing and Conductivity testing.
Liverpool was able to move from audit in the middle of December 2003 to secure full accreditation in only 5 weeks, illustrating the robust management systems and procedures which already exist at the plant.
Nadcap registration positions Bodycote Metallurgical Coatings, Liverpool, as an ideal business partner for aerospace OEMs and their supply chains.
Bodycote is the first sub-contract company in the UK able to provide the aerospace market with heat treatment, all coatings, painting and non-destructive testing services on one purchase order to a Nadcap approval.
