Formosa Acquires Borden Chemicals PVC Plant

Formosa Plastics Corp (USA) today completed the acquisition of the Borden Chemicals PVC facility in Illinois, USA.

The acquisition provides Formosa with a further 200 million pounds per year production capability in the area of suspension copolymer, blending and paste resins. It also allows them to produce a wider range of PVC products and offers the potential for future growth.

Formosa will begin implementing changes aimed at more efficient running and cost reductions. Part of this will involve systems to optimise production, procurement and distribution. They will also seek to bring the plant up to ISO9000 and ISO 14000 standard and gain the appropriate registrations.
