Milliken Chemical, a division of Milliken & Company, announced that its Millad® NX8000 clarifier for polypropylene (PP) has been named a winner of the 2008 R&D 100 Award, which recognizes the most innovative technologies introduced during the year. This prestigious award program from R&D magazine has been honoring outstanding new products for 45 years.
Millad NX8000, the next generation in Milliken’s range of world-leading PP clarifiers, offers a typical 50 percent reduction in haze compared with the current industry standard, making highly transparent polypropylene an achievable reality.
“Milliken is honored to be named a recipient of the R&D 100 award, which reflects our strong emphasis on innovative research and development to expand the potential uses of clarified polypropylene,” said Brian Burkhart, global market manager, Milliken Chemical. “Quite simply, Millad NX8000 is a true breakthrough in clarifier technology that allows polypropylene to replace glass and other clear materials in packaging and other new applications for the first time. We believe polypropylene clarified with Millad NX8000 gives customers a unique, cost-effective and versatile option in product development.”
Millad NX8000 clarifying agent makes polypropylene an even more appealing choice through performance benefits that include increased material strength and rigidity, and improved heat and chemical resistance. Furthermore, PP clarified with Millad NX8000 can be processed using all available technologies.
