MG Rover will source engines from Ford for use in their supercar, which is due to start production some time next year. The production versions of the supercar are based on the concept coupe labeled X80, and will be powered by an all aluminium version of the Ford 4.6l V8 moduIar engine.
This motor is claimed to propel the X80 coupe to 60mph from a standing start in under 5 seconds, with a maximum velocity of 175mph.
The engines will be built in Michigan, USA and shipped to England where the cars will be built. It is expected that MG will begin exporting models to the US, where it has been absent for over 20 years.
