Bodycote Materials Testing Installs XRF Spectrometer

Bodycote Materials Testing is pleased to announce that it has installed an X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer (XRF) at its Teesside, UK laboratory. The laboratory is now UKAS accredited for the following types of metal analysis:

  • Steels
  • Stainless Steels
  • Cast Irons
  • Nickel Alloys
  • Cobalt Alloys
  • Aluminium Alloys
  • Copper Alloys
  • Titanium Alloys
  • Tin - Lead Solders

The XRF instrument is ideal for the accurate measurement of elements at high levels such as Brasses, Stainless Steels, Nickel and Cobalt alloys. It can also determine Palladium in Titanium alloys; a notoriously difficult element to determine by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP). XRF is Bodycote’s preferred technique for the analysis of Al, V and Fe in Titanium alloys.

Other analytical techniques available from Bodycote include Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectrometry (GDOES), Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption, wet chemistry, gases in metals, wear metal in lubricating oils and many more.
