As skyrocketing energy costs push the world’s manufacturers to cut consumption, The Timken Company is receiving additional confirmation of a fact it has understood well for more than 109 years—high-quality Timken bearings contribute to energy efficiency.
Susiram Enterprises, a textile machinery manufacturer based in India, recently sent a letter to Timken thanking the company for helping its machinery consume less power.
Susiram ran an experiment on two of its similar machines - one was fitted with Timken wide-inner-ring bearings and the other with a different brand. The results were staggering. According to Susiram, the machine equipped with Timken bearings consumed 29 percent less energy in the test.
The Timken® wide-inner-ring bearing used by Susiram was originally purchased because it features Timken® Shaft Guard Technology, which helps increase shaft life and reduces warranty costs for customers. It was during a test set to examine Shaft Guard Technology that Susiram discovered the other positive benefit Timken bearings offer.
As manufacturers and industrial companies pursue increased energy efficiency, more are considering the potential savings generated when Timken technology is used to manage friction and reduce power consumption. Timken supplies a broad range of friction-management and power-transmission solutions, including tapered, spherical, cylindrical and needle bearings for industrial applications.
