Automated Minerals Analysis System Wins Australian Export Award

Intellection was announced as the winner of the inaugural Tom Burns Award, established last year in memory of the late Honourable Tom Burns AO to recognise an emerging exporter to China or Vietnam.

The presentation was made by Queensland Premier Anna Bligh at the Premier of Queensland's Export Awards gala presentation at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. In recognising the award, the Premier of Queensland, Anna Bligh recognised Intellections advances and position in the export market.

"Intellection's high-tech equipment has attracted strong demand in China's mining industries in the past year, and the company is a deserving winner of this inaugural award," Ms Bligh said. "Intellection builds and supports automated mineralogy analysis systems, including both hardware and software.

"It's advanced measurement hardware accurately measures the content of samples taken from potential mining deposits and also includes advanced sample preparation methods, a unique mineral identification software suite, and flexible analytical re porting. "The Intellection system is a very attractive technology in the mining, oil and gas, and coal-related sectors where its detailed analysis provides data for use in exploration, and maximising production and recovery rates.

"I congratulate Intellection on the win, and wish the company well as it continues to build its relationships and sales in the massive China market," Ms Bligh said. In receiving the award, Chris Staples the CEO of Intellection outlined the importance of the global market to Intellection.

“Since Intellection was founded in 2003, the majority of revenue has come from exports, with sales to mining companies, commercial laboratories, and research institutions in Australia, the UK, the USA, Canada, South Africa, Peru, Brazil, Chile, India, and more recently Russia and China.

We believe we have a strong product which is being used to increase productivity in the mining and oil and gas markets, and we take this message to a global marketplace. It is encouraging to be recognised for this and we thank the Premier for her words,” Mr Staples said.

The award represents a continuation of Intellections association with the Premier of Queensland's Export Awards having won the Dermot McManus Award for Innovation in Export at the 2007 Premier of Queensland's Export Awards.
