DuPont and Wuxi Xingda Nylon Co., Ltd., of Wuxi, China, have completed formation and startup of a joint venture for the production and distribution of filaments used in toothbrush, paint brush, cosmetic and industrial brush applications. The joint venture will provide a broad offering of brush filaments meeting the needs of customers worldwide. Terms were not disclosed.
The new enterprise is structured with three regional operating companies, each owned 70 percent by DuPont and 30 percent by Xingda. The operating companies are DuPont Xingda Filaments Co., Ltd. in Wuxi, China; DuPont Filaments- Europe BV in Landgraaf, The Netherlands; and DuPont Filaments-Americas, LLC in Wilmington, Del.
John Locklear, chief executive officer and global operations director of the enterprise, leads the management team.
"The joint venture opens up new opportunities to grow with our customers," Locklear said. "The integration of Xingda's manufacturing flexibility and product line with DuPont brand filaments allows for a strong, competitive product offering tailored to the needs of our customers. The venture capitalizes on a worldwide network of sales and distribution channels."
Well-known DuPont brands such as Tynex®, Tynex® A, Chinex® and Orel® filaments are key components of the product offering.
The new venture is staffed by approximately 500 employees serving customers' filament needs in more than 60 countries worldwide. The venture will have manufacturing facilities in Parkersburg, W.Va., Landgraaf, The Netherlands and Wuxi and Shenzhen, China.
Wuxi Xingda Nylon Co., Ltd. has been in operation since 1987 producing nylon toothbrush filaments and resins for the Asia Pacific region.
