Dow Corning Pharma Fabricated Tubing Assemblies (FTAs) help reduce the risk of contamination in biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical processing. They also streamline production and reduce labor, helping drug manufacturers focus on what they do best: produce life-saving pharmaceuticals.
The tubing assemblies are produced at Dow Corning’s dedicated, FDA-registered Healthcare Industries Materials Site. Dow Corning controls each part of the supply chain and process, from synthesizing the silicone raw materials to formulating the elastomers, to extruding and fabricating the components and delivering the final assemblies.
Drug manufacturers have traditionally built tubing assemblies in-house by cutting silicone tubing to size and connecting it to plastic wyes, tees and other components. This process is cumbersome, labor intensive, and dilutes focus from drug production. To increase efficiency, Dow Corning Pharma FTAs come ready to use, molded as a single unit. The single-use convenience of the Pharma FTAs reduces the risk of contamination and minimizes the need for cleaning, thus lowering labor costs.
Pharma FTAs can be made from 50, 65, or 80-durometer silicone tubing or an additional option, Dow Corning® Pharma Advanced Pump Tubing (APT). APT is made from a special 50-durometer elastomer which allows the tubing to have approximately four to six times longer life in peristaltic pumps compared to standard 50-durometer tubing. Customized assemblies are available in a range of configurations including wyes, tees, cross-connections, reducers, stoppers and other non-silicone components such as filters, connectors, pinch clamps, and valves.
