Crushed Glass for Concrete

Scientists at Australia’s CSIRO have successfully integrated crushed glass into concrete compositions and claim that the material is suitable for use in cycle ways, foot paths, kerbing, gutters and other similar applications.

The crushed glass is a suitable safe and economical alternative to sand, while the concrete has passed laboratory and field tests. Tests have been performed on compositions containing up to 20% crushed glass.

Using crushed glass in concrete finds a constructive application for glass that cannot be recycled.
