Eastman Chemicals to Showcase Biocatalytic Process for Polymer Production

Eastman Chemical Company will showcase its green biocatalytic process at NYSCC Suppliers' Day at the Raritan Center in Edison, NJ on May 12-13, 2009 at booth # 1221. The company will also highlight its portfolio of cosmetic and personal care products, including Eastman AQ Polymers and NutriLayer Phytolipids.

Eastman's green biocatalytic process allows chemists to work solvent-free and avoid even trace levels of undesirable solvents in cosmetic products. The single-step, solvent-free biocatalytic esterification reaction yields product that is essentially pure without further downstream processing, saving time and energy and reducing material use.

At NYSCC, the company will also showcase a range of cosmetic and hair care ingredients, including Eastman AQTM polymers which provide cosmetic chemists with increased flexibility. Its water solubility makes it a formulation-friendly product. In addition to the AQ polymers, Eastman will highlight its Nutrilayer phytolipids, the natural, non-GMO rice bran oil extract with proven efficacy and anti-aging results in sun protection and skincare applications.

"Eastman scientists consistently innovate products and processes to meet the cosmetic and personal care industry's needs," says James McCaulley, global market development manager, coatings business organization for Eastman. "We are pleased to showcase our latest advancements in technology at NYSCC Suppliers' Day."
