New Formulation Water-in-Silicone Emulsifiers from Dow Corning

"New formulation capabilities using water-in-silicone emulsifiers" will be presented by Dow Corning Life Sciences industry specialist Lisa Vanommeren at the annual SCC Scientific Seminar, Thursday, June 4, at the Chicago Hilton.

Water-in-silicone emulsions allow formulators to create personal care products with unique textures and feel-but these emulsions also can present formulating challenges. Process conditions, electrolytes, type of oil, phase ratios and emulsifier level represent critical variables that impact formulation stability and aesthetics.

The presentation identifies key parameters that influence the performance of water-in-silicone emulsions. Results of the study provide a tool to help formulators develop stable systems, then translate the concepts to finished cosmetic emulsions that respond to consumer needs and evolving market trends.
