Linde Gases, a division of The Linde Group, today announced its agreement with Neste Oil for the major installation of its central specialty gases supply system at the company's newly built research and technology laboratory at its refinery in Porvoo, Finland. The installation, planned for Autumn 2009, will extend across the 9,000 square metre facility and will be the largest of its kind in Finland and one of the largest in northern Europe. The new state-of-the-art laboratory will help enable Neste Oil, with its production focus on lower emission traffic fuels, to continue to develop clean fuels and advanced petroleum products to meet tomorrow's environmental requirements.
The central gas system, incorporating a corrosion-proof steel gas pipe network of over 4.5 kilometres, will transport multiple process gases piped directly into the refinery by Linde. The implementation will also include REDLINE point s of use, cylinder regulators and gas panels from Linde's specialty gases equipment product range, ensuring highly stable gas outlet pressure. With over 3,000 man hours expected to complete the project, the system will be a key reference site for similar projects in the Nordics region.
"This is an extremely important contract for Linde, not only in Finland, but across Northern Europe as a whole," said Head of Specialty Gases and Specialty Equipment at Linde, Stephen Harrison. "This is our second gas supply system installation for Neste Oil, having previously implemented a smaller version at the company's laboratory at the Naantali refinery. Neste Oil's decision to appoint Linde to undertake this further project is an endorsement of our status as a world-leading gas technology supplier".
"In addition to their technology capabilities, we were aware of their reputation for highly competent and reliable project management and installation engineering, having had first-hand experience of working with them previously", said Matti Sainio, Project Manager, Neste Jacobs Oy.
