Greening of Architectural Glass Campaign Wins Award for PPG

PPG Industries' (NYSE: PPG) architectural glass business has won a 2009 Pro-Comm Award of Excellence from the Business Marketing Association (BMA). The company's "Greening of Architectural Glass" campaign was recognized by a panel of national marketing experts for its exceptional product positioning and brand development, joining IBM as the only other winner in the category.

The award was shared by five Pittsburgh-based advertising, digital marketing, graphic design, marketing communications and public relations firms: Brunner, Mullen, Pipitone Group, Vance Wright Adams & Associates, and Yearick-Millea.

Two years after PPG conducted a nationwide benchmark study of architects, the campaign produced 15 percent growth in the perception of PPG as the leading "green" manufacturer of architectural glass. PPG also was identified as the most preferred brand of glass by a 3-to-1 margin over its nearest rival, and as the most specified brand of glass by 48 percent of survey respondents - more than three times its nearest competitor.

The BMA Pro-Comm Awards is the only national program to recognize excellence in business-to-business marketing and communications. Winners were honored June 10 at the BMA Annual Conference in Chicago.

The PPG "Greening of Architectural Glass" campaign was previously named a runner-up in the "Marketer of the Year" awards sponsored by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Marketing Association.
