PPG Industries' (NYSE: PPG) performance glazings business has launched Pacifica and Solarblue glasses, two new blue-tinted glasses. Both are now standard products available for immediate shipping.
Dark-blue Pacifica glass, part of the Oceans of Color collection of ocean-inspired tints, may be combined in an insulating unit with color-neutral, high-performance coatings such as Sungate 500 glass, Solarban 60 glass and Solarban 70XL glass to generate light-to-solar gain (LSG) ratios up to 1.63. This product is also compliant with the Florida reflectivity code requirements for "turtle glass."
Solarblue glass, which joins the Earth and Sky Tones collection, features a light sky-blue tint. In an insulating unit with clear glass, it has visible light transmittance of 50 percent and a solar heat-gain coefficient (SHGC) of 0.49. When combined with Sungate 500, Solarban 60 or Solarban 70XL glasses, Solarblue glass can achieve LSG ratios up to 1.84.
Solarblue and Pacifica glasses with Solarcool reflective coatings offer two additional aesthetic options for architects, with SHGCs ranging from 0.32 to 0.25. Pacifica glass also may be specified with Vistacool subtly reflective, color-enriched coatings, yielding a SHGC of 0.27.
Pacifica and Solarblue can also be ordered with Solarban 70XL and Solarban 60 solar control low-emissivity coatings on the second surface exclusively through the PPG Certified Fabricator Program (PPG/CFP). Without Solarban coatings, the products are available from more than 100 glass fabrication locations throughout the United States and Canada, and from international representatives in 25 countries.
