WACKER, the Munich-based chemical company, will be showcasing an innovative silicone antifoam agent for powder detergents at the 56th SEPAWA Congress in Würzburg, Germany, from October 14 to 16, 2009. Marketed as SILFOAM SP 150, this white, powder additive efficiently regulates foaming within a very broad temperature range. It also exhibits excellent flow and processing properties, combined with a high bulk density. SILFOAM SP 150 was formulated without starch-based additives, making it highly versatile.
SILFOAM SP 150 is a silicone antifoam powder that inhibits foam formation persistently and extremely efficiently. Its action is largely unaffected by temperature: effective foam control begins right in the low-temperature range and is not impaired by high temperatures either. SILFOAM SP 150 is therefore ideal both for low-temperature detergent formulations and general-purpose detergents.
Versatile and flexible, SILFOAM SP 150 can be used as an antifoam agent on its own or with soap. Combinations of the antifoam agent with a broad variety of different powder detergent formulations are possible. SILFOAM SP 150 is also a suitable general-purpose foam-control additive for other powder products that foam when applied or when they dissolve, such as granular cleaning and plant-protection agents.
The antifoam is easy to use. In most cases, 0.5 - 2.5% SILFOAM SP 150 is sufficient. If a particularly exact or very low dosage is required, the product can be mixed with sodium sulfate or another carrier beforehand. SILFOAM SP 150 has a long shelf life. When the agent is stored in its tightly sealed original container at max. 30°C, its effectiveness will not diminish, even after twelve months.
