The newest EMI absorbers from 3M are for applications requiring EMI control and signal integrity improvement in the 50MHz to 10GHz range. Common uses include reduction of noise and crosstalk inside mobile electronics, reduction of crosstalk and EMI on ribbon cables and flex cables, reduction of radiated IC noise, damping of radiation and oscillations inside shields and cavities, and increasing signal integrity on high-speed data lines through crosstalk reduction.
These absorbers are composed of a flexible polymer resin loaded with soft metal flakes on flexible, high permeability magnetic sheets. The 3M EMI Absorber AB7000 and AB7000HF have pressure-sensitive adhesive and are easily die cut into complex shapes. The AB7000HF absorber is low in halogen content.
The AB7000 and AB7000HF series products are broadband EMI absorbers designed to work in near-field applications inside and around electronic devices and assemblies. Each comes in four different thicknesses of both backing and adhesive.
3M serves original equipment manufacturers with OEM tapes, EMC and EMI-shielding products, antistatic masking tapes, heat shrink tubing and devices, liquid resins and adhesive transfers. 3M products are used for insulating wire harnesses, shielding against electromagnetic interference, protecting PCBs and electronic devices, and insulating electrical components.
