Babcock Power Acquires Welding Technologies

Babcock Power Inc. ("BPI") announced today that its subsidiary, Babcock Power Services Inc. ("Babcock Power Services"), has acquired all assets of Welding Technologies Inc. located in Gainesville, Georgia. Welding Technologies will be a division of Babcock Power Services, one of the four business segments within the BPI group of companies.

Welding Technologies provides field welded repair, replacement and refurbishment of plant equipment and fabrication of ASME parts and pressure vessels for the power generation, petrochemical and pulp and paper industries. Included in the acquisition by Babcock Power Services are all machinery, equipment, computer hardware, PLC codes, tools, drawings, patents, trademarks, trade names, copyrights, product formulae, inventions, proprietary know-how, technology, licenses, and design programs used to conduct the operations of Welding Technologies, including the name and goodwill. All current operations and customer interfaces will continue to be handled out of the Gainesville, GA facilities.

Ted Maliszewski, President, Babcock Power Services Inc., stated that, "The opportunity to gain this expertise will compliment our existing product offerings to the power generation facilities and allow us to further our expansion into the industrial markets." Babcock Power Services is a leading supplier of technology, equipment and engineering services for upgrading and maintaining any OEM's fossil-fired steam generating equipment, and associated ancillary equipment. Other affiliated companies and divisions of Babcock Power Services in the Services segment of BPI include: Riley Power Inc., Boiler Tube Company of America, the Cladding Technology division, and TEi Construction Services, Inc.
