Following expansion in the Philippines operation earlier this year with the opening of the new Obrist factory in Manila, Global Closure Systems (GCS) Asia Pacific is delighted to announce the completion of a new factory in Thailand supporting its Obrist beverage and Zeller Plastik dispensing closure business.
Since 2005 the plant has achieved sales growth of 20% driving the need for expansion to meet current and future requirements. GCS is investing $1million in the new premises, capitalising on the 6,000 sq. m. of available floor space, almost double that of the former factory, by increasing the use of in-line closure production and processing and creating a more pleasant working environment. The plant is continues to develop the high levels of quality and service it provides to serve the increasing demands of local and multinational customers in the domestic and export markets with international accreditation to ISO 22000 Food Safety, HACCP, GMP and ISO 9001. Located just over a kilometre from the previous site, the new facility has been fitted to modern environmental standards including low energy lighting and insulation to improve energy utilisation: an excellent environmental audit confirms that the move will reduce the company's carbon footprint in Thailand.
Ashley Jones, Vice President, GCS Asia Pacific adds: "The hard work of our dedicated staff has ensured a virtually seamless transition to the new factory; fulfilling customer orders remained our highest priority and was key to the success of the move. Building on the 27 year history of Obrist and Zeller Plastik in the region, the second significant investment by GCS this year demonstrates our long-term commitment to the Asian market."
