WACKER Asahikasei Silicone Co., Ltd. is celebrating its tenth anniversary today. The company, headquartered in Tokyo and with a production facility in Akeno, was founded in 1999 as a joint venture between Munich-based chemical group WACKER and Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corporation.
50 percent held by WACKER, it has some 100 employees on its payroll who produce and market silicone products such as rubber grades, emulsions and fluids for applications in the electronics, automotive, construction and textile industries, to name but a few.
Within the WACKER sales network, WACKER Asahikasei Silicone is responsible for all sales and marketing of silicone products in Japan. The joint venture has seen significant growth in recent years, with sales in 2008 nearly double those of 2000. In the same period, the production volume rose by more than 40 percent. "WACKER Asahikasei Silicone is ideally positioned, thanks to its high product quality, outstanding service and committed team of experts," said Dr. Christoph von Plotho, head of the WACKER SILICONES division, at a ceremony to mark the tenth anniversary.
